In a culture filled with increasing division, anger, hate, and uncertainty the brain’s “fight or flight” emergency system is repeatedly triggered, leading to anxiety, fear, and distress. Come spend an hour with Deborah Carroll, Ph.D., neuroscientist, certified yoga and mindfulness instructor, and learn how perceptions and thoughts feed our nervous systems’ responses. She will explain basic neurophysiology of the stress response in simple terms, explain how stress pathways in the brain are formed and can be modified, and demonstrate the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of loving kindness meditation.
Meditation is planned to be outside on the deck, unless there is inclement weather. Bring a blanket, yoga mat or comfortable chair! Free and open to all.
